Venda also known and spelt as Tshivenḓa is a language spoken in Zimbabwe and South Africa. In South Africa Venda people (Vhavenḓa) are found in the Limpopo Province whilst in Zimbabwe they are found in Beitbridge, Gwanda South, Mwenezi and Mberengwa districts. The Venda people call the land of their domicile Venḓa and their language Tshivenḓa whilst the people are called Vhavenḓa. Venda (Tshivenḓa) has its dialects which are; Tshiilafuri, Tshitwamamba, Tshimbedzi, Tshilembethu, Tshironga, Tshiṋia and Tshiphani. The Venda language spoken in Beitbridge town is called Tshivenḓa Donga. Venda (Tshivenḓa) is a complete and distinct language of which despite some linguistic similarities to other African languages, it is not a dialect of any. There are 71 647 (0, 5%) mother tongue speakers of Venda (Tshivenḓa) language in Zimbabwe.
