This number is the amount of people in the location of the vitality study conducted, namely the village of Tanahrata. Speakers of Rongga are not only in this village but also in three other villages. The ethnic group in the village
Tanahrata consists of many tribes, including the Motu pumbu, Motu kaju,
Motu poso, Nggeli, Sui, Sawu, Ngara, Banggaenga, Sera, Iowa, Yeast, Wake, dan ridicule. Almost all of the ethnic groups speak Rongga, except for the
Wake and Pejek who use Manus language.

The proportion of speakers of the Rongga language is about 20% of the total population in one sub-district of Kota Komba. Speakers of the Rongga language are classified as multilingual, meaning that they master their mother tongue, Indonesian, Manggarai language, and neighboring small languages. The Rongga ethnic generally speak other ethnic languages, but other ethnic groups do not master the Rongga language. This shows that the Rongga language is a small language.
The Cavalry Tribe Rongga language itself is known to be widely available in Tanahrata Village, Komba City District, East Manggarai Regency. Rongga speakers is the majority when viewed from the total population in Tanahrata.

The speech area of ​​the Rongga language is located in eastern part of Manggarai Regency, especially in three villages, namely Tanahrata, Komba, and Bamo. The Rongga tribe is a community of people who located in East Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Ethnic group Rongga is the language of Rongga and is spoken by about 20 small tribes called as a sub-tribe Rongga. Among the 20 sub-tribes of Rongga, the Motu tribe, the Iowa tribe, and the Nggeli tribe is the sub-tribe that has the largest population.
